These severe infections typically require prolonged courses of IV antibiotic therapy. Hospitalizations for severe, injection-related infections (SIRI), like endocarditis and osteomyelitis, have increased dramatically during the opioid epidemic (Ronan and Herzig, 2016 Fleischauer et al., 2017). ![]()
